Three Tractor Trailers and A Pick-up Truck Collide on Northbound I-75
February 17, 2015
Thirteen crashes on I-75 in Alachua County injured 7 people and blocked traffic for more than 4 hours.
Three tractor-trailers and a pickup truck were involved in a crash on northbound I-75 about 2 miles south of the Williston road exit. Investigation by FHP revealed a tractor-trailer driven by 30 year old Cassel Walford of West Palm Beach failed to see traffic had backed up from another accident north of Archer Road. When Walford applied his brakes, his rig jack-knifed and slammed into a F-150 pick up truck driven by 23 year old Sean Down of Minnetonka, Minnesota and two tractor-trailers driven by Alexander Markov of Acworth, Georgia and Winston Thorpe of Covington, Georgia. Walford was cited for careless driving.

*Driver Fatigue
*Vehicle Defects or Malfunctions
*Load Shift or Incorrect Cargo Storage
*Tire Blowouts
*Blind Spot Accidents
*Driver Intoxication

*Pressure to Meet Trucking Company Demands
