Laurie D. Mitchell graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of South Florida, where she was selected to become a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, Laurie worked in ICU/CCU, ER, Pediatrics, Med/Surg, and Geriatrics. She became Head Nurse of the Emergency Department, continued to teach specialized classes to other nurses, and worked as a helicopter Trauma Nurse. She also worked as Utilization Review Coordinator reviewing physician care for appropriateness and reimbursement.
Laurie became interested in law school while attending a deposition being taken by a lawyer with little or no medical background. It was then she realized as a lawyer she would have a lot to offer clients with complex medical problems and serious injuries.
Ms. Mitchell attended the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin Law School and graduated in 1986 with a Juris Doctorate degree. Since becoming an attorney, Ms. Mitchell has practiced exclusively representing seriously injured victims in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, birth injury, premise liability and nursing home negligence. Ms. Mitchell represents adults and children who have suffered serious injury or death as a result of the negligence of others. She handles each case personally and rigorously fights to obtain just compensation for her clients and their families. Her knowledge of medicine and law make her uniquely qualified to understand complex medical issues and represent seriously injured people.
