Alachua County School Bus Hit By Semi (5/31/16)

Fifteen year old eighth grade student, Dillon O’Brien, of Hawthorne was critically injured Tuesday morning (5/31/16) while boarding an Alachua County school bus on Waldo road in Gainesville, FL. The accident occurred approximately 8:35 a.m. near Northeast 80th Way when the bus was struck by a semi driven by Alfredo Garcia, 47, of Miami. Garcia, who was headed south, swerved the semi to the right and it began to jackknife. The right front of the semi hit the open doors of the school bus and O’Brien, who was boarding. Garcia was cited for careless driving.
